Question:

What is the role of an expert witness?

Answer:

Role of an Expert WitnessHave you suffered a personal injury in an accident in the city of New York, and are wondering what an expert witness does at a trial? Experts are needed for various reasons. It could be to prove liability. It could be to prove your injury. Sometimes we have clients see orthopedic physicians to evaluate the injury and make a determination as to whether or not the injury is permanent. It would be somebody who is specifically there to evaluate you and determine whether or not your injury is permanent and lasting. We would take that expert, and notify the defendant that we are going to be using that expert to time a trial, and then we will place that expert on the stand, who will testify on your behalf regarding the extent of your injury.
